Police Station Advice
It is difficult to imagine a more urgent need for legal advice than when you have been arrested and detained at a Police Station.
If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in that position get immediate advice and assistance from our expert team by calling us on 0800 195 7517
By calling us you will then benefit from our being able to
- arrange prompt representation for you at the Police Station
- advise you as to your rights while you are detained and interviewed under caution
- work towards securing your release from custody as soon as practicably possible
- advise you as to any further representation you may need
If you are taken to a Police Station and told that you are going to be interviewed
- the Police will give you an Information Sheet setting out your rights while detained. You should read and understand it
- you should also ask for their Code of Practice which contains more information about your rights
- you have the right to representation free of charge at a Police Station if you are going to be interviewed. This is true even if you initially say that you don’t need a Solicitor. You have the right to change your mind and request one at any time
If you do not have a Solicitor with you at the Police Station, you will be left in the dark as to what evidence the Police may or may not have until you are questioned during interview. However, we will be able to establish what evidence they plan questioning you about and discuss this with you in private prior to your interview.
Protect yourself by asking for Brown Turner Ross Solicitors as soon as you arrive at the Police Station. The Desk Sergeant will contact us on your behalf. The Police should not interview you until we have spoken to you, or one of our accredited Police Station Representatives has come to the Station to enforce your rights during the interview.
